MANCHESTER, TN – May 22, 2025 – The Coffee County Manchester Public Library is excited to announce it has received a $1,500 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to significantly enhance its summer literacy programming. This generous award is part of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation's record-setting, one-day donation of over $13.2 million to support adult, family, and summer literacy programs nationwide.
This grant will directly support initiatives like the upcoming SARA Nonprofit Summer Literacy Camp, a free program running from June 23rd to 27th at the Manchester Public Library. This camp will cater to children aged 3-13, offering a diverse range of activities including reading and writing games, vocabulary building, arts and crafts, "Make Your Own Book!" sessions, and early phonics.
"We are incredibly pleased to receive this grant and will put it to good use," stated a representative from the Coffee County Manchester Public Library. "Our program has grown so much over the last three years, and this help is much needed. This year we expect 700 students to enroll in our summer reading program, 'Color Our World'."
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has a long-standing commitment to investing in literacy and basic education programs in communities across the country. Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation has awarded over $271 million in grants, helping more than 23 million individuals pursue educational goals.
