
Coffee County found it tough to contain Rockvale's relentless, physical offense, while their own attack seemed bogged down and unable to gain traction in the second half, resulting in a frustrating 21-7 defeat at Homer Brown Field. Deonte Short opened up the scoring for the Red Raiders with a 65-yard touchdown run. The Red Raiders (3-3, 1-1) were firing on all cylinders; however, the Rockets answered with a 40-yard Hail Mary pass to tie the game up just before halftime. Coffee County hit the ground running in the second half, but Rockvale would seal the game with two touchdowns. With the loss, Coffee County moves to 1-2 in region play and 3-4 on the season.
Offensively for Coffee County, Deonte Short finished with an outstanding 100 rushing yards on four carries. Caiden Martin added 30 yards on 17 carries. Kaysen Lowery posted 12 yards on six carries. Jayden Carter added five yards on just two carries on crucial drives. Zander Gomez was named the Giles Dunn Diamond Company Player of the Game after a remarkable defensive performance for the Red Raiders. Coffee County moves to 3-4 as they enter a bye week. The Red Raiders will return to Carden Jarrell Field to host the Oakland Patriots (7-0) on Friday, Oct. 18, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. in Manchester, TN.
