At the request of 12th Judicial District Attorney General Courtney Lynch. The 12th Judicial Drug Task Force began investigating the overdose deaths of William Horton and Miles Kincaid, which occurred in Franklin County on April 21, 2022. The current DTF investigation began after investigators with the Decherd Police Department uncovered new evidence in the case. Based on the investigation, DTF agents have charged Justin and Paige Stubblefield with one count of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance. Justin Stubblefield, who is an Alderman for the City of Decherd, was also charged with one count of money laundering based on the financial transactions that occurred during the distribution of the oxycodone.
On July 9th, DTF agents arrested the husband and wife and booked them into the Franklin County Jail. The investigation into the overdose deaths of Horton and Kinkaid will continue with the goal of charging those responsible for their deaths with second-degree murder.
The Stubblefields have been issued $150,000 bonds each and are scheduled to appear in Franklin County General Sessions Court on September 12, 2024.
