Golden Eagle Football Returns to 95.9 & 105.1 August 22nd

Updated: Aug 9

Bowman-On Target Marketing, operator of Southern Middle Tennessee’s most listened to radio stations, is proud to present our third season of Shelbyville Football coverage this fall. Golden Eagle fans can tune into Whiskey Country 105.1 & 95.9 (WHMT-AM/FM) to hear every snap as Shelbyville battles area rivals and Region 5-5-A foes. Fans can also stream the games at whiskeycountryradio.com, on the free Whiskey County app or by telling their smart speaker to play Whiskey Country Radio!

Two new members of the On Target Sports team will bring you Shelbyville Football in 2024. Media veteran Jack “J.P.” Plant will call the action with Shelbyville alum Drew Hooker providing color commentary.

“Friday night football is a unique and special experience, especially in Southern Middle Tennessee,” said Glenn Goodwin, General Manager of Bowman-On Target Marketing, “I’m excited to continue our relationship with Shelbyville Central High School and bring Golden Eagle football to the airwaves this fall. I’m also thrilled to welcome J.P. and Drew to our team and look forward to hearing the excellent coverage they’ll provide to the Shelbyville community.”

From prep sports to the pros, Plant brings a quarter century of experience to the broadcast booth. He’s produced broadcasts for NBA’s Charlotte Hornets and NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes and colleges across the southeast. He currently engineers MTSU football broadcast while co-hosting the pregame and halftime shows on the Blue Raider Network. He’s also called state tournament and championship games on radio for the TSSAA and created, produced and hosted the Friday Night Live pre and postgame show. Residing in his hometown of Lawrenceburg, Plant is the founder of Southern Roots Radio.

“Few environments can rival that of a Friday night crowd in the fall,” said Plant. “And to be partnering with a traditional program like Shelbyville Central only enhances the experience. I’m also excited to be joining the great sports team at Bowman-On Target Marketing and to work with Drew this fall.”

A Bedford County Native, Hooker played at Shelbyville from 1998-2001 and returned to the sidelines as an assistant coach from 2019-2022. He was the offensive coordinator at Cascade last season. Hooker has worked in Emergency Medical Services for two decades and has contributed to the Bedford County Sports Live show produced by Shelbyville Now.

“I am excited to continue to represent my hometown as a member of the broadcast team,” said Hooker. “Over the past many years, coaching these young student-athletes has been a pleasure. I hope to bring a coach’s mentality to the booth and be able to show the fans how wonderful each of these kids is as a player and a person.”
