The Shelbyville Golden Eagles put up a fight against the Warren County Pioneers but fell short, 65-48, in McMinnville TN on Friday Night.
From the opening tip, the Pioneers set the tone, surging to an early 22-9 lead by the end of the first quarter. Shelbyville scrambled to keep up in the second quarter, but Warren County’s relentless defense and pinpoint offense kept the Golden Eagles at bay, pushing the score to an overwhelming 36-13 by halftime.
After the break, Shelbyville stormed onto the court with renewed energy, hoping to claw their way back into the game. They strung together a series of key plays, but the Pioneers held firm, maintaining control and extending their lead to 53-32 at the close of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the Golden Eagles battled valiantly, refusing to concede without a fight. Tae’Shawn Shelton led Shelbyville’s charge, and served as the catalyst for the Golden Eagles. However, Warren County proved too strong, continuing to build their lead and ultimately sealing a dominant victory.
Tae’Shawn Shelton’s 19-point performance earned him Watson Metals Player of the Game, while Jevon Lee contributed a solid 12 points. Malek Johnson added five points in critical moments for Shelbyville. Shelbyville will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 21, as they travel to Lincoln County, with the girl's game tipping off at 6 P.M. and the boy's contest to follow at 7:30 P.M.
