Just Call Them Champions: Tullahoma Wins State Baseball Championship



On Friday at MTSU’s Reese Smith Jr. Field the Tullahoma Wildcats defeated the Station Camp Bison 7-4 to win the TSSAA Class 3A state championship. This is the third overall state championship for Tullahoma Baseball and the first since 1990.


Station Camp opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two sacrifice flies. Station Camp first got on the board when Christopher Smith hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.


In the top of the second inning, the Wildcats scored once. Colton Emory scored on an error after he led off the inning with a double.

Tullahoma took the lead in the third after Trevor Cole scored on Jayron Morris grounded out, and Baylan Tuten singled in Andrew Fulmer who had also singled. With a 3-2 advantage, the Cats never trailed again.


In the fourth Tullahoma added to their total Cole doubled in Hunter Hogan after he had singled for a 4-2 lead.


The Wildcats continued their scoring in the fifth when Emory knocked in Tuten who had tripled.


Tullahoma added another run in the sixth when Avery Smith scored on an error for a 6-3 advantage.


The Wildcats added their final run in the top of the seventh. Tuten walked and scored on an Evan Tomlin double. Tullahoma held off Station Camp in the bottom half of the inning to earn a 7-4 state championship win. This was the 22nd win in a row for the Cats as they wrapped up the 2024 season with an overall record of 35-6.


Tuten stepped on the bump first for Tullahoma. He allowed four hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three and was credited with the win. Mason Bratcher and Hunter Hogan each appeared in relief for the Wildcats.


Tullahoma tallied 10 hits in the game. Tomlin, Tuten, Cole, and Hogan had two hits each. Tomlin, Tuten, Cole, Emory, and Morris each drove in one run for the Cats. Tullahoma were sure handed on defense as the didn’t commit an error.
