Lady Cats advance in District Tournament

The Tullahoma Lady Cats jumped on Giles County with two runs in the first inning. They never looked back, advancing in the District 8-3A Softball Tournament with a 7-1 win over the Lady Bobcats Wednesday night in Pulaski.
Tullahoma (20-10), the No. 3 seed, will travel to No. 2 Lawrence County tonight for a 6 p.m. elimination game. The winner advances to the district tournament finals to face Marshall County and clinches a spot in the Region 4-3A Tournament. Tonight will be the fourth meeting between Tullahoma and Lawrenceburg.
Lawrence County beat Tullahoma 16-6 back on March 11. The Lady Cats traveled to Lawrenceburg on March 27 and trailed 7-1 entering the seventh inning. Tullahoma rallied and beat the home team 8-7. The two met early in the tournament, with Lawrence County winning 5-2.
Junior Amaya Sharp (18-6) pitched a complete game in Pulaski on Wednesday, scattering six hits, a walk, and one strikeout. She was named the Owens Provisions and Apparel Player of the Game.
The Lady Cats pounded out 11 hits, with Kylie Holt and Addye Norman collecting three each. Madi Goad slammed a two-run homer, her 20th of the season, in the third inning, increasing Tullahoma’s lead to 5-0.
Junior second-baseman Ellie Simplson was 2-3 with a double, a triple, and two runs batted in. Holt, Tullahoma’s all-time leading run scorer, added two more to her career total. Norman also scored twice.
