A man wanted out of Michigan is dead after an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after authorities attempted to serve a warrant on the man.
Eyewitnesses reached out to Thunder Radio News at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, March 27 to inform us that multiple Tullahoma City Police vehicles could be seen entering a building on West Lincoln Street with guns drawn.
Coffee County District Attorney General Craig Northcott confirmed that officers were attempted to serve a warrant when they heard gunshots and made entry into the building.
“Officers arrived at a place of business on West Lincoln Street to serve a Michigan warrant for Thomas Hackworth’s arrest for Sexual Assault on a Minor,” explained Northcott. “Officers heard gunshots. Upon making entry into the business, they located Hackworth deceased with an apparent gunshot wound to the roof of his mouth. Evidence showed that a round had also been fired in the general direction of officers but was stopped when it impacted a vehicle. My office and TPD are continuing to investigate the situation.”
