Area law enforcement agencies are warning of another recent scam showing up in many states. Both Tullahoma and Shelbyville departments are telling us to look out for what is called a brushing scam. The scam happens when an unexpected package shows up from Amazon or other delivery service. The package will have the recipient's correct address but no return information. When the package is opened there is a QR code to scan to find out who sent the gift. Once the code is scanned, all the personal information from the phone will be sent to the scammers, who may even drain your bank account. Authorities say the gift maybe kept or thrown away, but the QR code should not be scanned for any reason.
