One Person Burned after Fire at Tyson Plant in Estill Springs

Writer's picture: Lucky KnottLucky Knott

On Saturday, a fire occurred at the Tyson plant in Estill Springs. The incident began when a grain truck was unloading, triggering a ‘dust explosion’ beneath the truck. This explosion extended into the grain hopper, which led to the on-site grain silo. The fire then traveled up the grain elevator, igniting additional grain stored in the facility.

The fire was quickly extinguished after the arrival of emergency responders. Unfortunately, one individual sustained burns and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Thank you to the Estill Springs, Capitol Hill, Decherd, Winchester, and North Franklin County Fire Departments for their swift and coordinated response.
