ESTILL SPRINGS, TN – June 30, 2025 – The Estill Springs Police Department has announced a series of arrests in connection with multiple burglaries and property crimes that have plagued the town in recent months, but concerns are mounting as the suspect has repeatedly been released on bond despite ongoing incidents.
The arrests stem from a string of offenses that began earlier this spring, primarily impacting the Shasteen Street and Eastbrook Road areas. While a suspect is now in custody, their repeated release on bond has prompted questions from both law enforcement and residents.
According to a press release issued by the Estill Springs Police Department, officers first responded to suspicious activity in the Shasteen Street area on April 29, 2025. A suspect was arrested at that time for Criminal Trespassing, with bond set at $2,100.
Just over a month later, on June 9, 2025, officers were called back to the Shasteen Street area to investigate a residential break-in. Following an investigation, the same individual was arrested again and charged with Aggravated Burglary and Theft of Property. Bond for these offenses was set at $20,000.
The situation escalated on June 23, 2025, when the individual, while out on bond, was arrested for a third time. These latest charges include additional incidents of Theft of Property, Vandalism, and Aggravated Burglary, this time occurring in the Eastbrook Road area. The bond for this third arrest was set significantly higher at $50,000.
The Estill Springs Police Department expressed significant concern over the repeated offenses occurring while the individual remained out on bond. Under Tennessee law, bonds can be revoked if a defendant commits a new offense, violates conditions of release, or is deemed a threat to the community. The department stated they are currently "unsure why the suspect’s bonds have not been revoked despite these multiple arrests and ongoing public safety concerns."
In addition to the burglaries, the department noted that two vehicle fires and other possible arson-related incidents have been reported in the Shasteen Street area prior to these arrests. While these incidents remain under active investigation, it is not yet confirmed whether they are connected to the burglary suspect.
The Estill Springs Police Department assures the community that they are "actively monitoring this situation and working diligently with prosecutors and the court system to seek appropriate action." The safety of residents remains their top priority.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about these or other suspicious activities to contact the Estill Springs Police Department at (931) 649-2233 or the Franklin County Communications Center (24/7 dispatch) at (931) 967-2331.
