Warren County’s Gifted Students Program recently visited Motlow-McMinnville to learn the basics of robotics at the Automation and Robotics Technology Center (ARTC). Students learned to control basic robotic equipment and how their love of technology can lead to many promising careers.
Motlow State provided students second through eighth grade with small remote-controlled robots to learn the basics of robotic controls. Afterward, they got to explore Motlow’s robotics equipment and learn how the skills applied to small toy robots can translate to robotics equipment that is used in a variety of lucrative, successful industries. Motlow State provided this opportunity to inspire learning in young minds and show children the plethora of opportunities available to them.
Motlow’s Mechatronics program prepares students for careers such as automation, power production, and manufacturing. Mechatronics is a two-year program that allows graduates to immediately enter the workforce. Upon completion of the program, students have the option of advancing further through Motlow by completing the Yaskawa Safety Principles, Intro to Robotics, FS100 Basic Operator Training, and FS100 Robot Controller Basic Programming with Material Handling certifications.
Larry Flatt, Executive Director of Automation and Robotics Training Center, told the students, “Train today so you can be a champion tomorrow.” Motlow State provides learning opportunities not only for current students but also for students in the surrounding communities so that students can see practical applications for the knowledge they acquire in school.
