Sexual Assault Arrest in Bedford County

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a local man on Thursday following an investigation into a sexual assault that began this week. Jerry Leonard Winfrey, 52, of Highway 64 West, faces multiple charges including statutory rape and incest.

According to a social media post by the Sheriff's Office, the Criminal Investigations Division launched its inquiry into the alleged sexual assault on Thursday. The swift investigation led to an arrest being made today by Detective Sergeant Chris Brown.

Winfrey has been charged with four counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure and four counts of Incest. He is currently being held on a $300,000 bond. No further details regarding the nature of the alleged assault or the victims have been released at this time.
