Shelbyville Struggles as Lady Falcons Soar to Victory

The Shelbyville Golden Eaglettes basketball team fell behind early to Lincoln County and never recovered as the Lady Falcons won 76-45 on Tuesday night at Rick Insell Gymnasium.


The Lincoln County Lady Falcons came out firing on all cylinders, dominating the first quarter to establish a commanding 17-point lead. Shelbyville’s Eaglettes struggled to find their rhythm in the second quarter, but Lincoln County’s relentless offense pushed them even further ahead, adding 18 points to close out the half with an overwhelming 45-17 lead.


In the second half, the Eaglettes showed flashes of light, but Lincoln County refused to back down. The Lady Falcons poured in another 21 points in the third quarter, extending their lead to 66-33. Despite the deficit, Shelbyville’s Lanaya Young stepped up in the final quarter, catching fire with 10 points to ignite a late rally. However, Lincoln County’s grip on the game proved too strong, as they secured a decisive victory.


Lanaya Young led Shelbyville with a standout performance, scoring 24 points overall, with 19 of those coming in a spirited second half. Jada Berry contributed seven points while anchoring the defense, earning Watson Metals Player of the Game


. Yasmine McFarland added six crucial points in key moments for the Eaglettes. Shelbyville will return to action on Friday, Jan. 24, as they host Spring Hill, with the girl's game tipping off at 6 P.M. and the boy's contest to follow at 7:30 P.M.


The next broadcast on 105.1 Whiskey Country will be on Tuesday, Jan. 24, as they host Spring Hill. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:45 P.M.
