TBI Investigating Franklin County Man’s Death while in Custody at Grundy County Jail

The TBI continues to investigate the death of a man that was in custody last Wednesday (May 29) at the Grundy County Jail in Altamont, Tennessee.
According to officials with the TBI, 53-year-old Ronnie Glenn Ledbetter of Decherd, TN was found to be unresponsive when he arrived at the jail on Wednesday morning after being taken into custody.
Ledbetter was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It’s unclear why he was taken into custody, but records show Ledbetter is a registered sex offender out of Franklin County with a long criminal history dating back to 2003.
The TBI says an autopsy is pending.
