Falling down 12-3 in the first quarter the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Bobcats 15-9 in the second quarter to pull within three 21-18 at the half. They then held Giles County to just 5 points in the third quarter and took their first lead of the night at 29-26 with 1:14 left in the third. Holding a five point edge to start the fourth Tullahoma held off a final push from the homestanding Lady Bobcats and sealed the win at the free throw line for a 48-40 victory.
McLayne Bobo led Tullahoma with a game high 23 points. Addison Vincent added 8 and Isabell Lidstrom and Lizzy Sharpton each finished with 7 points. Carson Brown led Giles County with 12 points.
The Lady Cats close the regular season 16-12 overall and 8-2 in the district. They lost the tiebreaker to Franklin County and will be the two seed for the District 8-3A Tournament. Having earned a first round bye and a region berth they will begin the postseason February 21st at 4:00 in the first girls semifinal vs the Lawrence County/Giles County winner at Murfreesboro Central Magnet School. Wildcats clipped by Bobcats
Daishaun Howard hit two free throws with :10 seconds left as Giles County upset 7th ranked Tullahoma 63-62 Thursday night, snapping a six game win streak for the Wildcats.
Xavier Farrell’s game high 21 points led a trio of Wildcats in double figures. Khani Johnson added 16 and Sam Bobo finished with 11 points. Casen Howard led Giles County with 18 points.
The Wildcats close the regular season 24-4 and 8-2 in the district. By virtue of a sweep of the regular season series with Marshall County the Wildcats are the top seed for the District 8-3A tournament. Like the Lady Cats they have earned a first round bye and a region berth and will begin the postseason February 21st at 5:30 in the first boys semifinal vs the Lawrence County/Franklin County winner at Murfreesboro Central Magnet School.
