The Tullahoma basketball teams both rallied to punch their tickets to the district championship games with wins over Lawrence County in the 8-3A semifinals Friday at Murfreesboro Central Magnet School.
Lady Cats 40 Lawrence County 28
In the girls game both squads struggled early, turning the ball over 29 times in the first half and playing to a near stalemate at the half with Lawrence County needing a buzzer beating half court shot from Kabry Tinin to take a 19-17 lead at the break.
In the second half however it was all Tullahoma. After being shackled by four trouble in the first half the Lady Cats outscored Lawrence County 23-9 to return to the district title game for the third year in a row.
McLayne Bobo led the way with 10 points and Addision Vincent added 9. Vincent, who was again also strong defensively, was named the Owens Provisions Player of the Game.
Tullahoma will face long time rival Franklin County for the third time this season in the 8-3A final Monday at 7:30 on 93.9 The Duck.
Wildcats 62 Lawrence County 52
The Wildcats had to rally themselves falling in a 9-2 hole early in the first before storming back on a 14-5 run to close the quarter and take a 16-14 lead.
Holding a 3 point edge at the half Tullahoma took the third frame 15-4 and then withstood a fourth quarter charge from Lawrence County to advance to the District championship for the first time since 2021.
Xavier Farrel again turned in an MVP performance tallying 30 points and leading the Wildcats on both ends of the court to claim Owens Provisions Player of the Game honors. Khani Johnson added 15 points.
The Wildcats will play Marshall County or Giles County for the 8-3A crown on Tuesday at 7:30 on 93.9 The Duck.
