The City of Tullahoma, in coordination with the Tullahoma Police Department, has issued a public service announcement to alert residents and parents about major traffic changes impacting Big Springs Avenue near Tullahoma High School. According to TDOT, as part of the ongoing Wilson Avenue widening project, Big Springs Avenue at Wilson Avenue will be restricted to just one lane in one direction during specific times and completely closed at all other times, including weekends. Beginning July 31, a single lane will be open from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. to allow traffic to access the high school from Wilson Avenue, and again from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. for vehicles leaving the school. On days with early dismissal at 1:00 p.m., the afternoon opening will shift to 12:45 to 2:15 p.m. A Tullahoma Police officer will be on-site during these time windows to help direct traffic. Outside of these periods, the road will remain closed. The city noted that Frazier McEwen Park and Rocket Park Playground will still be reachable from North Jackson Street. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extreme caution while traveling through this work zone.
