Two Arrested in Cases Involving Internet Crimes Against Children



Over the last week, Grundy County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have been working on cases involving Internet Crimes Against Children.

An investigator posed as a young child on social media where multiple adult men have reached out to the profile. During the investigation, these two individuals decided to conduct sexual conversation and planned to meet with a young child.

Velton Wayne Finch, age 65, is the maintenance man at the Mountain Inn Hotel in Monteagle Tennessee where he also resides has been arrested on Sexual Exploitation of a minor. A search warrant was conducted at the hotel in the room where Finch resides. Multiple electronics, methamphetamines, and drug paraphernalia were seized from the room.

Derrick Evans, age 34, was arrested in Franklin County after a joint investigation, when he decided to walk a couple miles down the road where he thought he was meeting a young female child for sexual acts, but only met with investigators. He then resisted arrest and was then taken into custody.

During questioning, after law enforcement met with both men, they stated their phones have been hacked.

Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is thankful for the assistance of Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, 12th Judicial Dangerous Drug Task Force, 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Monteagle Police Department, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
