A 74-year-old Murfreesboro man drowned while participating in a fishing tournament on Normandy Lake, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
On Saturday afternoon, the TWRA responded to a drowning call at about 4:20 p.m.
According to the TWRA, William Henry, 74, was participating in a fishing tournament and did not return to the weigh-in. Several anglers went to search the lake. They later found Henry unresponsive in the water near his vessel. The TWRA said Henry was pronounced deceased by Coffee County first responders. They added that he was wearing a life jacket. “This is the 19th boating-related fatality on Tennessee waters in 2024. The investigation into this incident is ongoing,” the TWRA said.
