On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Coffee County Mayor Dennis Hunt posted on social media the following statement:
“What does your elected County Commissioner actually do? The single most important thing your commissioner does is to cast their vote on how your tax dollars are spent. Coffee County is in the process of approving our annual budget that begins July 01, 2025. Our county employees, who we certainly appreciate, are hoping for pay raises that your commissioner must approve. Here is the bottom line, total cost for proposed “across the board” pay raises. A 3% pay increase= $598,204.00. A 5% pay increase= $997,007.00. A 7% pay increase= $1,395,809.00. These costs are in addition to the existing payroll expenditures. These are things you should know before they happen…not after”.
