Franklin County has received a significant boost for its environmental and economic future, securing a $1.2 million Brownfield Coalition Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Mayor's Office announced the exciting news via social media.


According to the announcement, the $1.2 million grant will be instrumental in supporting the cleanup and revitalization of brownfield sites throughout Franklin County. These are properties where past industrial or commercial use may have left behind contamination, hindering their redevelopment. This funding will pave the way for the assessment of these sites, ultimately leading to their cleanup and conversion into valuable assets for the community.


The Mayor's Office emphasized that this initiative will not only contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for Franklin County residents but also unlock opportunities for new growth and economic development.
