After the May 13, 2025 Coffee County Commission Meeting, the Commissioners and Mayor Hunt met in a closed door session with County Attorney Mark Williams. After the closed door session concluded, the Commissioners voted to initiate an investigation of fellow commissioner Joe Mike Hodge for official misconduct.
Commissioner Terry Hershman made a motion for the County Attorney to initiate an investigation of Commissioner Hodge for official misconduct. The automated voting system appeared not be working and so a show-of-hands vote was taken with a positive result.
Commissioner Hodge told Thunder Radio that he was “ambushed by this thing” and did not have a statement at this time.
The Commission meetings are streamed live on Youtube and the recordings are available on that site. There was no audio for the vote of the ouster of Commissioner Hodge.
Coffee County Attorney Mark Williams told Thunder Radio, “There was a vote to refer an alleged action of misconduct by a member of the County Commission to me for investigation as provided by TCA 8-47-103. If upon the completion of such investigation I find that there is reasonable cause for such complaint, then I would have to institute proceedings to oust the Commissioner from office”.
