Late Tuesday afternoon on May 13, 2025, multiple Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and Coffee County Sheriff Department (CCSD) Vehicles could be seen on Highway 55 in front of the Raider Academy.
Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin told Peterson Media Group that THP was behind a vehicle on I-24 that was identified as a stolen vehicle. The THP interdiction team along with the CCSD was able to safely spike strip the vehicle. The vehicle exited the 110 I-24 exit. At that time a CCSD Detective was able to PIT Maneuver the vehicle to keep the vehicle from entering into the congested area of Manchester. The suspect was apprehended near the 111 exit on Highway 55.
The PIT maneuver (precision immobilization technique), also known as TVI (tactical vehicle intervention), is a law enforcement pursuit tactic in which a pursuing (first) vehicle forces another vehicle to turn sideways abruptly by striking the pursued car at an angle near its rear, causing the second car to spin out and come to an unplanned stop. This maneuver is routinely used in high-speed pursuits.
Jerrold D King, (DOB 11/21/1991) from Peoria IL is currently being held in the Coffee County Jail on stolen car and drug charges.
