Decherd Police Investigating String of Vehicle Burglaries

DECHERD, TN – The Decherd Police Department is currently investigating multiple vehicle burglaries that have occurred in recent days. The incidents have taken place in the area spanning from Cumberland Street to Nicholson Street.
According to the police department, the individuals involved have been targeting unlocked vehicles, entering them and rummaging through their contents. In one instance, a bicycle was also reported stolen from the porch of a residence.


Authorities have released photos of three individuals who they believe were scared away by a security camera during one of the attempted burglaries. They are asking for the public's assistance in identifying these individuals.
Anyone who recognizes the people in the photos or possesses additional security footage of suspicious individuals matching their descriptions is urged to contact the Decherd Police Department at 962-1675 or Dispatch at 967-2331.
In light of these incidents, the Decherd Police Department is also reminding residents to take preventative measures to protect their vehicles and belongings. They advise against leaving keys inside vehicles, securing valuables out of sight if they must be left in a car, and always locking vehicle doors.
