LYNCHBURG, TN – Whiskey Country Radio is proud to announce the return of Moore County High School athletics to the airwaves, beginning with Blue Raider football this fall. On game nights, Whiskey Country will transform into Moore County Blue Raider Country Radio, bringing fans live play-by-play straight from the field home and away.

Peterson Media Group, owner of Whiskey Country Radio, has partnered with Moore County Schools to make these broadcasts possible.

“Moore County has produced some incredible teams over the past few years - especially when it comes to football and girls basketball," explained Josh Peterson, vice president of Peterson Media Group. "It's an absolute shame that those games have not been broadcast on the radio. After we purchased these radio stations in January, one of the first things on our agenda was to find ways to get our stations more involved in our communities and with our local schools. This was an easy decision.

"We are proud to support these student athletes and give the community another way to follow Moore County athletics on Friday nights in the fall and pretty much any night of the week during the winter and spring."

Moore County High School Principal Josh Deal shared his excitement for the partnership:

“This is a big win for our student-athletes, families, and fans. Being able to hear Blue Raider games on the radio showcases our athletes and our school," said Deal.

Peterson Media Group also intends to work closely with the school to find students interested in radio broadcasting, production and camera operations for relevant jobs on game days.

"We want to find ways for kids to be involved on all fronts," said Peterson. "Whether that is the quarterback getting his name called on the air or a young man or woman who wants to be part of production, we are here to help the students, the school and hopefully grow interest in local radio within the communities we serve, that is what it's all about."

Peterson added the goal is to make coverage in Moore County look similar to what Thunder Radio WMSR has done for Coffee County sports in Manchester.

"When we commit to something we want to do it right," added Peterson. "This is not just about football or basketball. We want to make sure we are getting to high school baseball and softball, too. And honestly, if we see the response from business partners we hope to see, who says we won't sneak out to a middle school football game or two or maybe middle school basketball. If we get the opportunity to cover sports, we are going to take it."

Catch all the action on Whiskey Country 105.1 FM and 95.9 FM starting this fall.

Previously, Whiskey Country Radio broadcast Moore County sports from 2017-2021. Coverage Shelbyville Central sports, which has been on Whiskey Country Radio since 2022 will shift to The Rooster 101.5.
